It is time to assemble...

It is difficult to know what tone to strike when promoting a social event in the era of COVID-19. For at least 18 months now, the world has dealt with the effects of an infection that has proven itself capable of causing death, even for some that seem otherwise healthy. We mourn those that have been lost, and we respect the needs of many to continue grieving.

Nevertheless, we see social activities returning, and even strengthening. We see great politicians celebrating birthdays, cultural elites posing at the Met Gala, and the return of live sports. Whether the coming normal is "new" or "old", it is going to involve people meeting in person.

Before 2020, retro geeks were used to a collection of yearly events around the country. Like so many other events in the last year or two, these events were all cancelled in 2020, and many in 2021 were delayed. It was heartbreaking to see so many events affected. Thankfully, even though the effects of the pandemic are still with us, some of these retro events are now happening again. Tandy Assembly is among this group of events.

So if you used to love hanging-out at the local Radio Shack, if you learned to program in BASIC at the local Radio Shack Computer Center, if you played with the Math Tutor cartridge on your Color Computer after school, or even if your new love is playing RoundUp! on your Model III, you owe it to yourself to come and find your people, Tandy people.

We realize that not everyone is yet able to travel or comfortable doing so. We also know that some may not yet fully approve of such public meetings at all. But still, we need it...and so do you! Do you feel the need?

Join us for this year's edition of Tandy Assembly, 10/1 - 10/3 in Springfield, OH. It will be jacked-in, powered-on, and just plain awesome! See you there!!

  1. Was really looking forward and I even registered, but alas I'm too chicken to attempt it. Best wishes to those who do go and no judgements from me - hopefully I'll be able to share some of the fun via posted recordings.
